24-hour extension in CBA talks

Multiple media outlets are reporting that the NFL and players union have agreed to a 24-hour extension in negotiations. The collective bargaining agreement was set to expire at 11 p.m. (central) Thursday, but the deadline was pushed back another day.

While some view the extension as a sign that the two sides are making real progress, others, including ProFootballTalk, are speculating that the 24-hour extension could simply give the sides more time to negotiate a longer extension, possibly a week or so.

That would make sense given the complex nature of their negotiations.

In any event, the next step won't happen for at least 24 more hours.
