INDIANAPOLIS -- Vikings coach Leslie Frazier sounded hopeful Friday that defensive end Everson Griffen has learned his lesson after being arrested twice in three days this month in Los Angeles.

"I had to just talk about a few things and just remind him what was important to us and as an organization and football team," Frazier said. "[I've] got my fingers crossed and hopefully won't see his name in the newspapers other than for what happens this fall when he gets a sack, an interception or a fumble recovery or something like that."

The Vikings used a fourth-round pick on Griffen last April with the hope that the former Southern Cal player would be able to overcome character issues that scared off some other teams.

Asked about his concern level, Frazier said: "You don't want to see your players names in the papers for negative situations. So anytime it happens, it becomes a concern. Hopefully for us, that's something that's behind us. Hopefully."

Griffen could stand to compete for a starting job if Ray Edwards and Brian Robison are able to depart as free agents.

Percy's migraines

Wide receiver Percy Harvin missed two games and countless practices last season because of issues with migraines. Harvin has struggled with the headaches since he was a kid and the Vikings hope is that they simply can keep the episodes to a minimum.

"We think we have a better feel for where Percy is today from a medical standpoint," Frazier said. "Our staff did a great job toward the end of the season in helping to determine what route we needed to take to help him. I think we've made some headway. It's going to be an ongoing process.

"I don't know how many that are here this morning are familiar with migraines or have had family members who have had migraines. It's a debilitating occurrence when it does happen. It's complicated at times, but we're doing everything we can to help Percy in any way possible. We've got a great medical staff. It's going to be an ongoing process. ... We're hopeful things are better than they have been. It seems we have things in place to continuously help him. He was able to finish the season strong after having some episodes. We'll just see as time goes on."

Take a guess

Washington quarterback Jake Locker is considered among the top quarterbacks in this draft, but he definitely seems to be behind Auburn's Cam Newton and Missouri's Blaine Gabbert.

Asked where he sees himself fitting in with this group of quarterbacks, Locker said: "Your guess is as good as mine. Like I said, I'm going to control what I can. I'm going to go out and be as prepared for every step of this process as I can. Have fun with it, enjoy it and show all the teams who I am both on and off the field. Wherever that puts me, I'd be happy to go to any team that wants to draft me."
