Wide receiver Emmanuel Arceneaux is set to sign a three-year deal with the Vikings on Tuesday after spending two seasons in the Canadian Football League.

Arceneaux worked out for eight teams since December but he said he decided to sign with the Vikings because they presented the best opportunity. Arceneaux's agent Bardia Ghahremani said his client felt comfortable with coach Leslie Frazier, both graduates of Alcorn State.

"They've kept in communication since he went there and did his workout," Ghahremani said. "I think he's kind of become someone Emmanuel can turn to and speak with. As the whole process happened, I know Emmanuel has grown more and more comfortable with coach Frazier. For us, that was our main thing: making sure [their CFL clients] have an opportunity when they go somewhere that the coaching staff knows their name. "They went to [other] workouts and they never met the coaching staffs. The personnel people just worked them out. They put them on a flight, have them sit in a room for an hour and send them on their way. Sure, those teams offered but realistically speaking going into camp, they'd be known as, 'Oh yeah, you're that CFL kid.' We didn't want that. We wanted him to have the opportunity where the coaching staff knew them, had genuine interest in them and want them there. They're not just that 'CFL kid.'" Arceneaux said he didn't draw interest from NFL teams coming out of Alcorn State. He said rather than "just working a normal job" after graduation, he decided to play in the CFL.In two seasons with the B.C. Lions, he caught 130 passes for 1,972 yards and 12 touchdowns.

"Really going up to Canada was that steppingstone and that opportunity to showcase what it was I could do," he said. "It was motivation for me and still a chance for me to compete at a high level."

Arceneaux said he played mostly in the slot in the CFL but has experience on the outside too. He said he played in the Pro-style offense and West Coast system in college.

Arceneaux is 6-2, 215 pounds. Ghahremani said his client ran between 4.44 and 4.52 in the 40 in his NFL workouts.
