Adrian Peterson shifted his focus from football to ice fishing Monday as he spent the day on Lake Waconia taking part in the first All Day Blizzard Blitz for better hearing that was put on by the Vikings Pro Bowl running back and the Starkey Hearing Foundation.

Before heading out to fish, Peterson took time to answer a variety of questions that ranged from walking on frozen water to his contract (which will void after the 2011 season) to the possibility of having Josh McDaniels as his offensive coordinator. Here's what he had to say:

Q. Why do this event with the Starkey Hearing Foundation? A. "When I hooked up with the Starkey Foundation that's when we started talking about how can we collaborate and do something together? What better thing to do than ice fishing here in Minnesota. Plus, it was something I was intrigued by. I wanted to get into it and we were able to plan this event. I'm just looking forward to cracking the ice and seeing what I can do." Q. How weird is it to drive on the ice? A. "I was actually walking on the ice and I didn't know what it was. I thought I was still on the [hard] surface." Q. How did you feel about Leslie Frazier being named coach of the team? A. "It was a good feeling to see that he got the job. We have a lot of faith in him and what he can do for our organization. He's a great leader, he's a God-fearing man. That's what I respect about him the most. I feel like with him in place we'll be able to accomplish our goals." Q. Have you talked to your agent about a new contract, since your current deal voids after next season? A. "I'm sure we'll talk a little bit about that but I've really just been enjoying … I've been off for almost two weeks now. I've just been kicking back and relaxing for now. That time will come." Q. Is there any concern on your part about potentially going into training camp in what amounts to the last year of your contract? A. "[A new deal] would be nice but I'm not really pressing for anything. I'm in a pretty good situation so we'll let the chips fall where they may." Q. Are you worried at all about possibly going away from the West Coast offense if a new coordinator is hired? A. "I'm not concerned at all. In this profession, you've got to be able to adapt and adjust. You know that there can be coaching changes. So you've just got to be able to adapt. So that's what I'll do here if that happens." Q. Has Frazier talked to you at all as his conducts his search for a coordinator? (Darrell Bevell remains the offensive coordinator at this point but Josh McDaniels interviewed for the job on Jan. 7.) A. "I've been following it myself and I've seen that they've been talking with Josh McDaniels. I haven't talked to Coach Frazier about if he's going to make any moves or whatnot. He's the head coach so I'm sure if he does make a move then he'll do what's best for the team." Q. McDaniels likes to pass the ball? Would you be OK with that? A. "Whatever it takes to win." Q. Last season you didn't attend many of the Vikings offseason activities and instead trained near your Houston home. Frazier has said he would like players at the OTAs this year. What's your plan? A. "I will be doing both. I'll be here doing different things as far as working out and learning the same system or a new system. That's still up in the air. But I'll be in and out." Q. It's not your position group but how would it feel to have Mike Singletary on staff as the linebackers coach? (Singletary is close to an agreement with the Vikings). A. "He's a legend and if it was possible to bring him in I wouldn't mind bringing him in just to have that hard-nosed attitude that comes with him and just his experience of playing the game. I feel like he can really add another spark to the locker room and to the defensive side of the ball. I'm all in for that idea." Q. Will it be tough to watch the Bears play the Packers in the NFC title game? A. "It's going to be tough to watch. It will be an exciting game to watch." Q. Will you watch it? A."Oh, yeah, definitely. I have friends that play for both teams so I'll be watching." Q. Who wins? A. "I don't know. It's going to be a good game. It's going to be a good game." Q. Brett Favre filed his retirement papers today. Do you expect that he's done this time? A. "I kind of had a feeling this might be his last year but then with Favre you never know. Hearing that, it's kind of surprising, but I'm happy for him. He had a great career."
