The Vikings initial plan this week called for quarterback Brett Favre to test his sprained throwing shoulder in Thursday's practice after sitting out Wednesday.

That didn't happen.

Interim coach Leslie Frazier confirmed this afternoon that Favre did not throw any passes during the Vikings practice as they prepared for Sunday's game against the New York Giants at Mall of America Field. Favre, who suffered a sprained sternoclavicular joint against the Buffalo Bills last Sunday, has started an NFL record 297 consecutive games in his 20-year career.

Frazier said Favre would try to do some work in Friday's practice. "He tested some things this morning in the walk-through and just didn't didn't feel comfortable in going much farther this afternoon," Frazier said. "We said, "Hey, we'll wait until [Friday]. Get another day's rest and take a look at it [Friday] hopefully."

Frazier and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell have both said they expect a determination on Favre to be a game-day decision. Favre said Wednesday that he could see making a determination as early as Friday.

Asked if Favre could play even if he did nothing before Sunday, Frazier said: "That would be a tough one. We'd like to see him do something Friday or Saturday. But you know, we would take a look Sunday morning. If he's able to go out and throw the football, move around, it could end up being a game-time decision just because of what he's been able to do in the past. That scenario is still a possibility."

If Favre can't play, it's not a given he won't be active. "It depends," Frazier said. "We'd like to at least have him as a backup. As you know, our quarterback situation is a little bit tenuous now, with Joe Webb being in the situation that he's in. So, you'd like to at least have him available in an emergency situation to hand the football off. But we'll have to wait and see."

Webb is dealing with a hamstring injury and showed improvement on Thursday.

Meanwhile, wide receiver Percy Harvin remained at home as he continues to deal with a migraine headache issue that began a week ago Wednesday and caused him to sit out last Sunday. Frazier would not get into specifics when asked if Harvin would see another specialist but added, "We're considering some things, so we'll see. We'll see what happens."

Also sitting out for the Vikings on Thursday were cornerback Chris Cook (knee); defensive end Ray Edwards (sprained right ankle); safety Tyrell Johnson (knee); and guard Steve Hutchinson (broken thumb). Hutchinson had done limited work on Wednesday.

Limited for the Vikings were Webb (hamstring); running backs Toby Gerhart (hamstring) and Adrian Peterson (ankle); and wide receiver Sidney Rice (hip).

For the Giants, running back Ahmad Bradshaw (wrist) went from sitting out on Wednesday to taking part in all drills on Thursday. Offensive tackle Shawn Andrews (back) was the only Giants player who did not practice Thursday.
