Vikings quarterback Brett Favre took part in a portion of practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at New England.

Favre suffered a stress fracture of his left ankle and a fractured left heel last Sunday night against Green Bay but has stated his desire to play on Sunday. That would extend his NFL-record starting streak to 292 games.

Vikings coach Brad Childress said Friday that he likely wouldn't make a decision on whether Favre or Tarvaris Jackson will start until Sunday. An NFL source told the Star Tribune that Childress has been leaning toward giving Jackson the start.

Safety Jamarca Sanford did not practice Friday for personal reasons and Childress would not say if Sanford will make the trip for Sunday's game.

In addition to Favre, offensive lineman Chris DeGeare (ankle) and cornerback Lito Sheppard (broken hand) are questionable. Listed as probable, meaning it's a virtual certainty they will play, are left guard Steve Hutchinson (quadriceps); defensive tackle Letroy Guion (hamstring); center John Sullivan (calf); nose tackle Pat Williams (quadriceps); safety Husain Abdullah (concussion); and cornerback Chris Cook (knee).

For the Patriots, safety Jarrad Page (calf) and running back Fred Taylor (toe) are out. Listed as questionable are safety Patrick Chung (knee); wide receivers Matthew Slater (ankle) and Deion Branch (hamstring); and defensive end Mike Wright (knee). Quarterback Tom Brady (right shoulder) is listed as probable.

Vikings' Loadholt draws fine

Vikings right tackle Phil Loadholt was fined $20,000 for his fourth-quarter facemask penalty against Packers linebacker Clay Matthews on Sunday, according to an NFL spokesman.

Childress was upset about the call after the game but replays showed that Loadholt grabbed Matthews facemask on the play and spun him around.
