NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told NBC's "Today Show" that he has yet to speak to Brett Favre about the allegations that the Vikings quarterback sent inappropriate pictures and messages to former Jets sideline reporter Jenn Sterger when he played for the team in 2008. (Thanks to www.profootballtalk.com for being up early enough to point this item out.)

"We're gathering all the facts, Matt," Goodell said in a reponse to a question by co-host Matt Lauer. "We want to make sure that we understand exactly what happened. We also want to make sure that everybody in the NFL, whether you're a player, coach, commissioner, recognize the responsibility that we all have to the public, to the people who follow our game. When we get the facts, we'll apply the Personal Conduct Policy."

Goodell was vague when asked if Favre could end up being suspended. "I'm not going to speculate on what we do, Matt, other than we apply the policy whether you're a high profile player or not," Goodell said. "To us, it's a responsibility of playing the game, and the responsibility we have to our fans."

As to whether the Vikings will ever be looped into this process that remains unclear. Coach Brad Childress said Tuesday he has yet to hear a word from the league about the investigation.

Considering Goodell has yet to speak to Favre, the league has yet to say a word to the Vikings and, as far as we know, Sterger has yet to speak to the league, the reports of this being on a "fast track" should have come with a warning that this was a "legal fast track" meaning that to most people this isn't going to seem all that fast.
