Adrian Peterson chatted with reporters in the locker room Monday before leaving for the bye week. Peterson said he's going to spend the week in Texas and will attend the Oklahoma-Texas game on Saturday.

Peterson touched on a number of topics, including his fast start, his desire to break records and the debate whether he or Chris Johnson is the top running back in the NFL.

Here is some of what Peterson said:

On who's the best RB: "I have the mindset that I know that I am the best. In my mind and in my heart I know that and I believe that. That's really all that matters to me. I really don't care about other people saying, 'Oh, well I think Chris Johnson is a better back or this and that.' It doesn't matter because as long as I know in my heart that I am and I'm working to be that player then I'm going to continue to rise and move forward."

On how long can he play at that level: "God willing, I'll be able to play maybe 20 years like Favre." [laughter]

On whether he hopes to finish career as NFL's all-time rushing leader: "That's a goal of mine. First off, win a championship and then all those other goals will fall into place.

On being more patient as a runner: "It goes back to studying myself. [Running back coach Eric Bieniemy] gave me some film to look at during the offseason. I seen where there were times when I was not patient. Just pressing it, kind of doing my own thing. Just slow my tempo down and really give those guys up front the opportunity to lock up on those linebackers. That's really the difference, just me being patient and letting those guys work and then hitting it."

We'll have plenty more on Peterson's strong start to the season and the advice he got from a retired running back that has stuck with him later tonight online and in the paper.
