Clock ticking in Jackson situation

The Vikings remain very much in the mix when it comes to a potential trade for wide receiver Vincent Jackson, but as of early this afternoon no trade agreement had been reached between Minnesota and the San Diego Chargers.
The clock is ticking on the Jackson situation because if he isn't traded by 3 p.m. Wednesday, he would have to sit out the full six games of his suspension instead of four. Jackson already has served two games of a three-game ban he had placed on him for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
The second three games of the suspension was reduced to one and comes as a result of Jackson being placed on the roster-exempt list by the Chargers.
The likely hang up in all of this remains the Chargers' asking price -- not getting a one-year deal done with Jackson. The Chargers are likely looking for at least two draft picks and possibly three, with one coming in 2012. The issue for the Vikings is they might not even have Jackson on their roster by that time and don't want to give up that much.
As always, stay tuned.
Update: It's about 8:15 p.m. local time and there is nothing new on the Jackson situation. Doesn't mean it won't happen but as of now there is nothing new to report.
