The Vikings are holding a short practice Monday afternoon and rookie cornerback Chris Cook and defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy are both taking part.

Both players were sidelined because of knee injuries and did not play in the season opener or even practice last week.

Cook, who was expected to start at right cornerback, had surgery on a torn meniscus in his right knee during the preseason. Coach Brad Childress said the team would have a better idea of whether Cook will be available for the Miami game on Sunday after watching him in drills early this week.

Kennedy has been sidelined and out of practice since injuring his knee in the second preseason game.

The only players who were not on the field for practice were kicker Ryan Longwell and punter Chris Kluwe. They presumably were doing work somewhere else, either inside or at the Metrodome.

Childress will speak to the media after practice and we also have locker room access. Check back later for updates.
