Vikings injury report is out!

Posted by: under Injury report, Vikings, NFC, Vikings injury report, Brett Favre, Cedric Griffin, John Sullivan Updated: September 6, 2010 - 4:52 PM

Cornerback Chris Cook and defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy did not take part in the Vikings' practice on Monday because of knee injuries and it seems unlikely either will play in Thursday night's regular-season opener at New Orleans.

The Vikings were not required to disclose injuries until Monday -- when they issued the initial injury report of the season -- so this was the first time we found out what was wrong with Kennedy since he was injured on Aug. 22 in San Francisco in the Vikings' second preseason game.

Among the Vikings limited in Monday's practice were running back Toby Gerhart (knee); cornerback Cedric Griffin (knee); safety Jamarca Sanford (ankle); and center John Sullivan (calif). Quarterback Brett Favre (ankle) was listed on the report but took part in the entire practice, according to the Vikings.

Griffin, who had surgery for a torn ACL after being injured in the NFC title game last January and spent all of training camp on the physically unable to perform list, was vague when asked if he thought he had a chance to play Thursday. (Honestly, that seems like a huge long shot.)

“I sound like a broken record," he said. "I’m just working hard and I’m just trying to get back and get everything strong and leave everything up to the coaches and the training staff. I feel good, I’ve been practicing here the last two days with my teammates and taking all the reps and feel really good.”
For the Saints, linebacker Stanley Arnoux (ankle) and running back Chris Ivory (knee) sat out. Cornerback Tracy Porter (knee), tackle Zach Strief (knee) and linebacker Jonathan Vilma (groin) were limited. Wide receiver Marques Colston (kidney), tight end Jimmy Graham (ankle) and safety Pierson Prioleau (knee) were listed but took part in all of practice.
