Vikings.com reported tonight that in addition to Sage Rosenfels being traded to the New York Giants, the team also included Darius Reynaud in the deal.

That is interesting because Reynaud was the Vikings best punt returner. Reynaud moved to running back this season but he wasn't in the mix to earn playing time in that role.

It remains to be seen who will handle the punt return role now that Reynaud is gone. Asher Allen has gotten reps this preseason but he doesn't look comfortable catching punts.

Greg Camarillo has worked on punt returns in practice since arriving in a trade last week so he could be an option. Percy Harvin also has practiced there, but I can't imagine the team would want to add that responsibility to his plate too.

A few people have asked on twitter whether rookie quarterback Joe Webb can return punts. Webb is such a good athlete that he probably could do it, but I would be very surprised if that happened.

It will be interesting to see who the Vikings send out there in the season opener next Thursday against the Saints.
