Favre continues to be good for business

Even without Brett Favre having announced that he would return to the Vikings this season the team still had a season-ticket renewal rate of 94 percent, its highest since 2001.

But in the 48 hours after the quarterback's plane touched down at Flying Cloud airport in Eden Prairie, the Vikings saw another spike in sales. In that time, they sold 800 new season-ticket packages.

Sales of season tickets have gone so well that the team plans to cut them off early next week.

There are now limited single-game tickets left for the entire season, except for the Packers game on Nov. 21. That one is a sell out. Even the preseason ticket sales have been strong with fewer than 1,000 left for both the Aug. 28 game against Seattle (Favre should play the first half in that one) and the Sept. 2 game against Denver (Favre is unlikely to ever set foot on the playing field in that one).

"Vikings fans have shown outstanding support for this team throughout the offseason," said Jeff Anderson, the Vikings assistant director of public affairs. "Ticket sales have been consistently strong in all areas this summer, and we appreciate our fans passion and enthusiasm heading into the 2010 season."

The Vikings website traffic also experienced a spike with Favre's arrival. Over Tuesday and Wednesday, the site's traffic was up more than 300 percent compared to the daily August average up to those two days. And that came after the Vikings' daily page view average already was up by about 25 percent.
