Percy Harvin's absence from the Vikings reportedly should be ending shortly.

The wide receiver is expected to rejoin the Vikings this week and it could be as early as tonight, according to a report from CBS Sports. The website sites sources close to Harvin in its report.

Harvin left the Vikings on July 31 after the death of his grandmother and did not return in part because of another battle with migraine headaches. The Vikings sent Harvin a "five-day letter" on Friday in order to gain a roster exemption. The letter gives the Vikings the right to put Harvin on the reserve/left camp list after five days. That would end Harvin's season, something the Vikings have no intention of doing.

The Vikings do, however, want to get Harvin back and it appears that will happen.

On another note, Jeff Garcia's father, Bobby, told the Gilroy (Cal.) Dispatch that the Vikings called his son to see if he would be interested in playing for them. Pro Football Talk has the story here.

"Minnesota had called him and said, 'If [Brett] Favre doesn't play are you ready to go?'" Bobby Garcia said. "But you know what? Favre is going to play."

Instead, Garcia has decided to join the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL. Of course, if Favre doesn't return, Garcia still has time to change his mind because he has yet to sign with Omaha.

This is an interesting bit of information considering the belief had been that if Favre doesn't return that Tarvaris Jackson would be the starter. Also, if the Vikings were to bring in Garcia, it almost certainly would mean they would deal Sage Rosenfels.

The Vikings will return to practice this morning after being off Sunday. Practices now have moved back to Winter Park so they are no longer open to the public.
