MANKATO -- Percy Harvin still has not returned to the team after the death of his grandmother and the Vikings aren't sure when he will return.

Harvin left camp last Sunday and missed his 14th practice Monday morning. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said he isn't sure when Harvin will rejoin team.

"Percy is dealing with some personal issues," Bevell said.

Harvin went through three practices before leaving so it's unclear how long it will take him to get into football shape once he does return.

"I don't where he's at in terms of his conditioning," Bevell said. "We didn't have him out here that long anyway. But Percy takes really good care of his body. I know that he's a hard worker. We'll just have to see when he gets back."

Harvin also is believed to be dealing with another bout of migraines, which can be brought on by stress.

Here are a few other notes from Monday's practice:

  • Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier said the coaching staff is talking about giving rookie Chris Cook some work at right cornerback. That job is open because of Cedric Griffin's ACL injury. Veteran Lito Sheppard got the majority of reps with the first team the first week of camp. Cook has been impressive so far but Frazier said last week he preferred to keep the rookie on the left side to make him comfortable. Now that Benny Sapp has returned from his dehydration problems, Asher Allen also is getting turns with the first-team defense at right corner. That competition is just getting heated up.
  • Frazier said the team hasn't determined whether E.J. Henderson will play Saturday night against the St. Louis Rams. Henderson, who is returning from a broken left leg, is gradually getting more reps in team work and hasn't suffered any setbacks.
  • Adrian Peterson went through the full practice and didn't appear bothered by his left hamstring, which tightened up early in camp.
  • Fox Sports senior writer Jay Glazer was in town over the weekend and has an insider account of what happened with the Brett Favre events last week. Here is his column.
  • Bevell said Tarvaris Jackson will run the first-team offense Saturday night, which means he'll likely get two series.
  • Rookie quarterback Joe Webb has really struggled in camp. That is not entirely unexpected, but it's obvious that he is extremely raw and has a long ways to go. "His head is spinning," Bevell said. "The playbook is immense. ... He's swimming a little bit."
  • Long snapper Cullen Loeffler missed practice for family reasons. Garrett Mills handled snapping duties in punt and John Sullivan did it in field goal. Jon Cooper also can long snap but he played guard during those drills.
  • Tight end Visanthe Shiancoe did not practice and again declined to reveal the nature of his injury. Right guard Anthony Herrera (back spasms) also sat out.
  • Brad Childress father, Harry, visited practice.
  • Jasper Brinkley continued to supply some big hits. He drilled receiver Taye Biddle in the ribs to breakup up a pass during 11-on-11. Biddle stayed on the ground for a few minutes before being helped off the field by athletic trainers.
  • Pat Brown is making a push to earn a roster spot as a backup lineman. Brown mostly plays left tacle, but he worked at left guard today.
  • The Vikings have their second practice at 2:45 p.m.
  • Our daily Access Vikings video will be up at www.startribune.com shortly. Childress happened to be walking by as we were filming and jumped in for a few questions.
