Vikings likely won't pick in supplemental draft

The Vikings aren't expected to take part in today's supplemental draft, although there are a handful of prospects who will be available.

Atop the list is Kentucky defensive end Jeremy Jarmon. The 6-3, 278-pounder earned honorable mention All-SEC recognition after recording 38 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 4 1/2 sacks as a junior. As a sophomore, he had 62 tackles and 13 1/2 sacks.

Jarmon entered today's draft after being ruled ineligible by the NCAA for testing positive for a banned substance. The supplemental draft, which was not held last year because of a lack of entrants, is held for players who failed to petition the league for early entry before the April draft but then end up being ineligible for the upcoming college season.

Teams can bid for the available players via e-mail and the club that uses a pick in today's draft then forfeits its choice in the corresponding round of the next year's NFL draft in April.

In addition to Jarmon, players eligible for today's draft include wide receivers Deon Murphy of Kansas State, Corey Surrency of Florida State and Torris Magee of Southern Mississippi; defensive end McKinner Dixon of Texas Tech; defensive back Demetrice Morley of Tennessee; linebacker Blake Boyd of Western Kentucky; and offensive lineman Joe McMahon of Central Michigan.

• Sales of Vikings single-game tickets are tentatively set to go on sale Monday. However, tickets for some games already are available at vikings.com, including Seattle on Nov. 22, Cincinnati on Dec. 13 and the Giants on Jan. 3.

• Receiver Sidney Rice, who was slowed last season because of a right knee injury, said on his website, sidneyrice18.com, that he worked out at full speed without his knee brace on for the first time in 10 months and felt no pain. • Former Vikings receiver Hassan Jones, 45, was arrested on felony domestic battery charges and aggravated assault charges this week by Clearwater (Fla.) police. The St. Petersburg Times, citing a police report, said Jones, who played for the Vikings from 1986 to '92, is accused of assaulting his daughter and then grabbing a Callaway Big Bertha driver, waving it at his wife and daughter and screaming that he was going to strike each of them in the head.
