1. Time is money

A week ago in Pittsburgh, Case Keenum found himself in trouble when he didn't get rid of the ball quickly, completing only seven of his 17 passes when he held the ball for more than 2.5 seconds, according to Pro Football Focus. On Sunday, the Vikings gave him solid protection, and Keenum trusted his pocket, going 7-for-11 with a touchdown when he held the ball for more than 2.5 seconds.

2. Run D stands up

For as well as Mike Zimmer's defenses have played during his first three seasons as the Vikings coach, it has been a bit perplexing that the team hasn't done a better job stopping the run. The Vikings have stopped their old bugaboo during their first three games, giving up only 188 rushing yards through three weeks. That's the third-fewest yards in the NFL.

3. Ham finding a role

When the Vikings dressed only four receivers Sunday, it was a sign they believed they could take it to the Buccaneers with a physical approach on the ground. Fullback C.J. Ham deserves some credit for that. He played 22 snaps Sunday, providing several impressive lead blocks for Dalvin Cook and catching a pass for 12 yards the play before Cook's longest run of the day. The Vikings won't use a fullback often, but Ham's versatility and his strength have helped him carve out a spot in the offense.
