The Vikings are done picking for the day and the 2016 draft is in the books.

After a pair of trades with the Dolphins and Eagles, the Vikings dropped from the 186th pick in the sixth round to No. 188 and took UTSA tight end David Morgan. The 6-foot-4, 262-pounder caught 45 passes for 566 yards last season while also garnering positive reviews as a blocker.

He joins a tight end group that includes Kyle Rudolph, MyCole Pruitt and Rhett Ellison. Ellison is currently on the mend from a major knee injury.

In the seventh round, the Vikings selected Vanderbilt outside linebacker Stephen Weatherly and Clemson strong safety Jayron Kearse.

Weatherly, an above-average athlete, recorded 120 tackles and 11.5 sacks in three years at Vanderbilt. He started 21 of his 36 games in college.

This is the fifth straight year they drafted a linebacker in the final round.

Kearse is a 6-foot-4 safety who is the nephew of former NFL defensive end Jevon Kearse. He was a first-team All-ACC selection in 2015, his junior year, after recording 62 tackles, six pass break-ups and one interception.

Safety seemed to be a long-term need for the Vikings entering the draft, but for a third straight year, they did not make it a priority.
