Antoine Winfield, Vikings: The team's decision to use more man-to-man pass defense was right up the veteran cornerback's alley. He covered well, made 12 tackles and forced a fumble.
Steve Hutchinson, Vikings: We'd hate to have the whole season pass without honoring a guy headed for his sixth All-Pro berth at guard.
'CAN WE START OVER?'
Time: Five seconds into the game
Ball: Jaguars first-and-10 at their 28
The play: QB David Garrard was in the shotgun, but center Brad Meester forgot. He snapped it, hit his own butt, and Vikings LB Napoleon Harris picked it up like an Easter egg and ran 27 yards for a TD.
The result: The unexpected gift set the tone for a mistake-filled day by the Jags.
VIKINGS: NEXT GAME
Chicago limited the Rams to 14 rushing yards on the way to a 27-3 victory Sunday. The Bears beat the visiting Vikings 48-41 on Oct. 19 with four interceptions and two special teams touchdowns.
Dangerous player: Matt Forte, RB
The rookie from Tulane (right) has 909 rushing yards and 45 catches for 336 more.
NEW ... AND IMPROVED?
We'll stick with the theme of our 2008 preview section all season and keep grades on the new guys and the young players expected to lead:
THE SACK MAN
DE Jared Allen
The Vikings were better this week at chasing a somewhat mobile QB. Allen had two tackles for loss, but no sacks.
THE DEEP THREAT
THE VETERAN
Childress says he holds the ball too long. Has 11 TD passes and 11 picks, and his 76.6 QB rating, is 25th in the NFL.
THE SOPHOMORE
Late for a team meeting? What, no watch? Now trails Clinton Portis (1,206-1,180) in battle for NFL's rushing lead.
