The Baltimore Ravens placed cornerback Chris McAlister and strong safety Dawan Landry on injured reserve Tuesday, ending their seasons.
McAlister underwent surgery Monday to repair his posterior cruciate ligament and cartilage damage on his right knee. McAlister, who leads the Ravens with three interceptions, has had problems with the knee dating to last season.
Landry is still experiencing tingling sensations in his neck after sustaining a spinal cord concussion against the Cleveland Browns in the third game of the season. Landry was carted off the field after a collision with Browns running back Jamal Lewis, whose knee struck Landry’s helmet.
The Ravens have put 16 players on IR this season.
N.Y. Jets
Five-time Pro Bowl cornerback Ty Law passed his physical and practiced with the Jets after signing a one-year deal.
Law, 34, spent the past two seasons with Kansas City. He sat out the first 10 weeks, but coach Eric Mangini said Law was in excellent shape and could play Thursday against the Patriots.
The Jets released cornerback Justin Miller, a Pro Bowl kick returner in 2006.
Moss’ fine rescinded
The NFL has rescinded a $20,000 fine levied against New England Patriots receiver Randy Moss for his comments about officiating.
The fine was withdrawn by Ray Anderson, the league’s vice president of operations, after a review, league spokesman Greg Aiello said.
Moss’ remarks came after the Patriots lost 18-15 at Indianapolis on Nov. 2. Moss said at the time there were “some real iffy calls out there.” The NFL never announced the fine.
Bell a Bronco again
The injury-riddled Denver Broncos have signed free-agent running back Tatum Bell to his second stint in Denver.
The fifth-year pro played three seasons for the Broncos before he was traded to Detroit in March 2007. The Lions released him Sept. 2.
The Broncos drafted Bell in the second round out of Oklahoma State in 2004. In 47 career games, he’s run for 2,524 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also has 61 catches.
Etc.
• The Chicago Bears terminated safety Terrence Holt’s contract and elevated rookie defensive end Ervin Baldwin from the practice squad. Holt signed with the Bears on Oct. 22 and was inactive for games against Detroit and Tennessee. He started all 16 games for Arizona last year.
• Steelers running back Willie Parker will return to practice today, and coach Mike Tomlin is optimistic Parker will play Sunday against the Chargers. Parker has played only once since spraining his knee Sept. 21 in Philadelphia. The return of left tackle Marvel Smith also could help the running game. Smith hasn’t played since Oct. 5 because of a back injury, but Tomlin said he might practice this week.
