Report: Favre spilled secrets

Last update: October 20, 2008 - 1:51 AM

GREEN BAY, WIS. - Cornerback Charles Woodson said that if a media report indicating that former Packer Brett Favre shared inside knowledge of the Green Bay Packers' offense with Detroit Lions coaches is true, it's nothing short of sabotage.

"He contacted them? I don't respect that," Woodson said after the Packers' victory over Indianapolis on Sunday. "If they call him and he gives them information, that's one thing. But to seek a team out and to feel like you're trying to sabotage this team ... there's no honor in that."

Woodson's comments came in the wake of a foxsports.com report that Favre called the Lions before their Sept. 14 game against the Packers in Detroit and dispensed information on nuances of the offense he used to run.

Favre -- who was traded to the Jets this summer -- was not asked about the report after the Jets' loss at Oakland. But in a text message to an NBC reporter before the Seahawks-Buccaneers night game, Favre strongly denied the report.

A knee-irked reaction - October 20, 2008
A knee-irked reaction - Have we fantasy geeks evolved so dramatically as a species in two years that we can only muster a collective shrug at Maurice Jones-Drew's kneel-down Sunday at the 1-yard-line? In 2007, when Brian Westbrook pulled the same trick, the fantasy football community nearly melted the Internet's tubing with sob stories and "How could he do that to us?" rants. But after Sunday, when MJD helped the Jaguars control the clock in the final minute and get the victory by taking a knee a foot in front of the goal line, there were millions of geek heads nodding in approval. "Yeah, good idea. Smart move. It's OK if it cost me six fantasy points." Have we fantasy freaks lost our freakiness? Have the geeks gone mild? More
