NEW ORLEANS - Middle linebacker E.J. Henderson did not make Sunday's trip here with the Vikings, according to a team spokesman. Henderson had been listed as doubtful on the injury report after dislocating two toes on his left foot last Sunday at Tennessee. He did not practice all week and was wearing a protective boot.

Vikings coach Brad Childress hasn't said how long Henderson will be sidelined, but the people with knowledge of the situation revealed the team expects him to miss at least a month.

Childress told reporters Saturday that he would "probably" have more to say about Henderson's status this week. That's partly because the Vikings have been waiting for the swelling in Henderson's foot to go down.

Once that happens, doctors should be able to determine the exact extent of the damage and the best way to treat it. With Henderson out tonight, second-year player David Herron is expected to serve as his replacement.

Also not making the trip to New Orleans was safety Madieu Williams, but that does not come as a surprise. Williams has yet to play this season because of a neck injury and hasn't been making road trips with the Vikings.

Teams often don't bring injured players because there's no need to have them sit in an airplane, and by staying home they can continue to receive treatment.
