7 tonight, Texas Stadium

TV: Ch. 45 Radio: 1130-AM, 100.3-FM

ABOUT THE VIKINGS

Coach Brad Childress is not planning to play his starters tonight as the Vikings (1-2) end preseason play against the Cowboys (1-2). That means quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, who did not play Saturday after suffering a sprained medial collateral ligament Aug. 16 at Baltimore, will have 22 days between starts. Jackson has said he will be ready for the regular-season opener Sept. 8 at Green Bay. Receiver Bernard Berrian (toe) will finish the preseason only having played three series, and those were in the first game. ... Backup quarterback Gus Frerotte also won't play. Childress said he wants to rest his all of his starters and Frerotte so the coach can take a longer look at backups who are battling for spots on the 53-man roster. The Vikings will have to cut from 75 to 53 by 5 p.m. Saturday. ... Brooks Bollinger and rookie John David Booty, who are battling for the No. 3 quarterback job, are each expected to play a half. ... DE Brian Robison (leg) is expected to make his preseason debut.

ABOUT THE COWBOYS

Coach Wade Phillips has not said how many starters he will play tonight, but the Dallas Morning News reports that in the preseason finale last year at the Metrodome, the Cowboys played only seven of their 22 starters. ... The Vikings won that game 23-14 and are 5-3-1 against Dallas in the preseason. ... The Cowboys beat the visiting Vikings 24-14 last October when it counted. ... QB Tony Romo will sit out tonight. ... This will mark the Cowboys' final season playing at Texas Stadium. The team's new retractable-roof stadium, which is being built at a cost that will exceed $1 billion, is located in Arlington, Texas, and will be completed next summer. The venue will seat 80,000 and could be expanded to hold as many as 100,000. Super Bowl XLV will be played there on Feb. 6, 2011.
