Vikings Day @ Camp

Last update: August 11, 2008 - 10:07 PM

Holding on to the football seemed to be a challenge during a morning practice that was cut short by about 11 minutes. Normally sure-handed receiver Bobby Wade had two drops in a seven-on-seven drill. Passes also were dropped by receivers Aundrae Allison and Nate Jones, running back Maurice Hicks and tight end Braden Jones. The tone might have been set early when receiver Jaymar Johnson failed to catch several punts.

Getting his kicks

Kicker Steven Hauschka has been getting plenty of work in camp as the coaches attempt to limit the work by veteran Ryan Longwell. Hauschka, who no doubt is hoping to impress somebody around the league with his performance, made six of eight field-goal attempts in the morning practice.

PAYING OFF

Jared Allen, defensive end

It's getting ridiculously hard to highlight a newcomer of the day because the Vikings have been in full pads only three times and done very little tackling since they've arrived in Mankato. But Allen gets the nod for his would-be sack during team drills vs. the first-team offense.
