Vikings coaches in their third season
Norm Van Brocklin (1961-66)
First two seasons: 5-22-1. 1963: 5-8-1. Expansion team didn't have winning record until 1964.
Bud Grant (1967-83, '85)
First two seasons: 11-14-3. 1969: 12-2. Dominant team that eventually lost to the Chiefs in Super Bowl IV.
Jerry Burns (1986-91)
First two seasons: 17-14. 1988: 11-5. What seemed to be a team in transition had winning chemistry.
Dennis Green (1992-2001)
First two seasons: 20-12. 1994: 10-6. The Vikings thought adding Warren Moon would get them to a Super Bowl. It didn't.
Mike Tice (2001-05)
First two seasons: 15-17. 2004: 8-8. They staggered into the playoffs, knocked off the Packers and lost to the Eagles.
Brad Childress (2006-)
First two seasons: 14-18. 2008: To be determined.
Note: Les Steckel coached one season (1984) before Grant returned for one season (1985); Tice coached one game in 2001 season, record listed is for 2002-03 seasons
