Vikings scouting report: Cincinnati

  • Updated: December 18, 2013 - 11:34 PM

• The Bengals hold a one-game lead over the Ravens (8-6) for first place in the AFC North.

• Cincinnati is 6-0 at home, averaging 33 points at Paul Brown Stadium.

• The Bengals offense (second, 71.8 percent) and defense (10th, 53.1 percent) are ranked in the NFL top 10 in red-zone TD percentages.

• WR A.J. Green is sixth in the NFL in receiving yards (1,268) and receptions (87).

• Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict leads the league with 151 tackles. He was signed as an undrafted free agent last year.

• P Kevin Huber was placed on injured reserve because of a broken jaw suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Steelers. LB James Harrison suffered a concussion.

• Dalton has a .609 career winning percentage with the Bengals (28-18). It’s the best winning percentage in franchise history for any QB with 10 or more starts.

• He’s the second QB in NFL history, after Peyton Manning, to record 3,000 passing yards in each of his first three seasons.

• On shedding the “game-manager” title: “I feel like I’ve done some things that help us win the game. … You want to put your receivers and team in the right position to win the games.”

• On defenses doubling Green: “We see it quite a bit. You’ve got to be ready for A.J. to be doubled and for teams to do different things to try to take him away, just because he is the type of receiver he is and can make so many plays.”

• The 55-year-old Lewis is in his 11th year as head coach of the Bengals (88-88-1).

• On the Vikings defense: “They’re going to get after the quarterback, and they’re not a real tricky-type group. They just come smash you in the face.”

• On Burfict: “He’s grown into one of the leaders defensively and on the team and just continues to get better. He plays very aggressively and so forth and has done a good job.”

• On Vikings QB Matt Cassel: “I think he’s quick with the ball out of his hands. He’s a very accurate thrower, and he seems to have a good feel for what they want to do.”
