Barack Obama, noting he was in the midst of Vikings fans while speaking in Fargo this afternoon, suggested that they should instead root for the Chicago Bears.
"You guys need to be re-educated," said the Illinois senator and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. "Go Bears!"
Obama stopped in Fargo and spoke for about 20 minutes on military veterans benefits.
It was during the question and answer session that the good-natured football smack talk emerged.
After making the case for his hometown team, Obama called on a boy in the audience wearing a Bears ball cap and asked the 11-year-old what his plans were for the summer.
After the boy said he'll be playing golf and football, Obama responded: "I wish I was doing that for the summer."
The boy offered, "You can golf with me."
