Officially, the word is out now.

The Minnesota Vikings, with a helping hand from Nike, will have redesigned uniforms for 2013. And the chatter behind-the-scenes is that the new unis may have more of a retro feel to them.

But just what will the new uniforms ultimately look like? That's a secret the organization is keeping under lock and key until April 25, the night of the team's Miller Lite Vikings Draft Party at Mall of America Field.

In addition to securing two new players with the 23rd and 25th selections in the first round, the Vikings will also use that night to show off their new attire.

And yet, for the uni-junkies out there, there's also an earlier opportunity to put together pieces of the puzzle, little by little, over the next four weeks. At VikingsUniformInsider.com, the team is offering a chance for fans to use their dedication to the Vikings to get clued in on the new uniform design.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. All those social media outlets will afford fans an opportunity to accumulate points for their Vikings love. And those points will then become available as a way of unlocking a dozen uniform teasers over the next four weeks.

Second draft weekend event

In other news, the Vikings' draft weekend festivities are expanding this year. On the third and final day of the draft on April 27, the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital will sponsor "Vikings Football Day," which is free for children under 12, $5 for season ticket holders and $10 general admission. That event will include player and alumni autograph sessions, an introduction to the Vikings' first-round picks, tours of the Mall of America Field locker rooms and a Q-and-A session for kids wit a current player.
