Gophers NFL draft picks since 2000

The Gophers have had at least one player selected in each NFL draft since 2000, but that streak likely will end this weekend.

Safety Dominique Barber and receiver Ernie Wheelwright are the only Gophers with draft hopes, and both would be late-round picks.

Barber, whose brother Marion III is a punishing running back with the Dallas Cowboys, posted a time of 4.68 seconds in the 40 at the NFL scouting combine, but he improved that to 4.58 at the Gophers' pro day. Wheelwright wasn't at the combine but did take part in the pro day and had 40 times ranging from 4.48 to the low 4.5s, according to his agent, Blake Baratz.
