Vikings day at camp: Wednesday

Ponder rebounds in Mankato finale

After struggling in practice the day before, quarterback Christian Ponder looked much sharper in Wednesday's 11-on-11 team drills.

He completed his first four passes to four different receivers and finished 6-for-8 overall. And one of the incompletions was a drop by running back Adrian Peterson. Tight end Kyle Rudolph made an outstanding catch over the middle while being basically tackled by linebacker Marvin Mitchell before the ball arrived.

"The good thing about this training camp is if we had a bad day, we didn't let it affect us the next day," Ponder said after practice. "And we had very few bad days. We had maybe two really bad days. And even then, they weren't that bad."

CAMP PROFILE

Andrew Sendejo

Position: Safety

The skinny: The Vikings were desperate for healthy defensive backs when they signed the former UFL player late last season. Despite having played only two NFL games with Dallas in 2010, Sendejo saw action in his second week with the Vikings and in two other games down the stretch.

Did you know? Sendejo was teammates at Rice with Corey Frazier, the son of Vikings coach Leslie Frazier.

Chances of making the team: Unlikely. He can play special teams, but he is working with the third-team defense and is behind at least six other safeties on the depth chart.

CAMP CHATTER

"What a bad athlete that No. 28 is."

-- Linebacker Chad Greenway, joking to reporters after covering Adrian Peterson on a swing pass that No. 28 bobbled and dropped before falling down.
