TREVOR MBAKWE • GOPHERS

Surgery: Dec. 30 to repair ACL, MCL and cartilage damage in right knee

Rehab update: Mbakwe is working on basketball-specific activities, including post moves such as drop steps, pivoting, establishing his position. He also does pool work and/or strength and conditioning drills every day.

Outlook: Mbakwe was granted a sixth year of eligibility and hopes to be ready by the season opener.

ADRIAN PETERSON • VIKINGS

Surgery: Dec. 30 to repair torn ACL and MCL in left knee

Rehab update: Peterson is working on explosion, deceleration and building up his strength and endurance. He's able to cut and do zig-zag drills. His rehab routine also includes hill running, balance exercises and harness resistance work.

Outlook: Peterson is determined to play in the season opener Sept. 9, but there's a possibility he could open training camp on the physically unable to perform list.

RICKY RUBIO • TIMBERWOLVES

Surgery: March 21 to repair torn ACL and LCL in left knee

Rehab update: Wolves head athletic trainer Gregg Farnam said Rubio's rehab is on schedule. He is working on regaining his range of motion and strength. Rubio rehabs five to six times per week and has returned to Spain with a Wolves physical therapist to continue his work.

Outlook: It's still too early to determine whether Rubio will be ready by the start of the 2012 season.
