POTENTIAL PLAYERS OF INTEREST
A look at six unrestricted free agents in whom the Vikings are believed to have interest:
Bernard Berrian, WR, Chicago
Had career-high 71 receptions for 951 yards and five touchdowns in his fourth NFL season. Isn't necessarily a No. 1-type receiver but probably will be paid like it.
Andre Davis, WR, Houston *
Caught 33 passes and three TDs in 14 games with Texans after spending 2006 with Buffalo. Has battled injury problems in six-year career.
Jerry Porter, WR, Oakland
Veteran had issues with former Raiders coach Art Shell in 2006 and was suspended at one point for "conduct detrimental to the team." Played in only four games that year but started all 16 games in 2007.
Madieu Williams, FS, Cincinnati
Started 13 games in 2007 but finished season on IR because of a quadriceps injury; played for current Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier in 2004 when he held the same job with Cincinnati.
Gibril Wilson, FS, Giants
Had career-high four interceptions in 13 games for the Super Bowl champions. Hard-hitter figures to draw plenty of interest on open market.
Justin Smith, DE, Cincinnati
Bengals starting right end had a career-low two sacks in 16 games in 2007 but has 43.5 sacks in seven-year career. Spent two seasons playing for Frazier with Bengals.
