Former Vikings coach Brad Childress told NFL.com that Randy Moss "walked in the locker room and vomited on it," after he was acquired from New England last season.

Moss spent four tumultous weeks with the Vikings before being released following an Oct. 31 loss to New England. Childress decided to release Moss without first informing owner Zygi Wilf and that played a big role in the coach being dismissed following a 31-3 loss to Green Bay on Nov. 21.

The Vikings, who had gone to the NFC title game in 2009, were 3-7 at that point.

"I should have gone up the chain," Childress said.

Childress told the website that Moss called him after the trade and said, "I can't wait, I can't wait. I feel like I'm coming home again." But that feeling did not last long and Moss ended up with 13 receptions for 174 yards and two touchdowns. "We had good guys, by and large," Childress said, "[but Moss] walked in the locker room and vomited on it."

Childress said he does not regret the fact he brought back Brett Favre, who was coming off a great 2009 but struggled and battled injuries last season. "[Favre] had his best season ever his first year [in Minnesota]," Childress said. "Could you do more with Brett Favre? Absolutely you could."

Added Childress: "We made a conscious effort to bring everybody back. What did we get for it? I got fired, and [Favre] got hurt. Did I feel like he was as sharp as he could've been? No."
