Five unrestricted free agents who could immediately help the Vikings

A VIKINGS' FREE-AGENT WISH LIST?

Here are five unrestricted free agents who could immediately help the Vikings:

1. MATT HASSELBECK, QB, SEAHAWKS

• Hasselbeck, 35, would give the Vikings a savvy veteran and the option of not having to risk damaging rookie franchise QB Christian Ponder mentally, emotionally and physically.

2. NNAMDI ASOMUGHA, CB, RAIDERS

• Like a lot of teams, the Vikings need a cornerback. A great shutdown CB such as Asomugha doesn't become available often.

3. ERIC WEDDLE, S, CHARGERS

• The Vikings might have to part with S Madieu Williams, who has a $5.4 million salary cap number. Weddle, 26, is a sure tackler who can play free or strong safety.

4. JUSTIN BLALOCK, G, FALCONS

• Blalock is a 6-4, 329-pound pile mover who played for new Vikings offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave in Atlanta. He could help at right guard, where Anthony Herrera is coming off ACL surgery.

5. CULLEN JENKINS, DE, PACKERS

• His health the past three seasons is a concern. But the Vikings likely need a defensive end to replace Ray Edwards. And Jenkins is a versatile player coming off a seven-sack season.
