1 Prince Amukamara, cornerback, Nebraska
Amukamara is widely regarded as the second-best cornerback in the draft behind LSU's Patrick Peterson. Mock drafts project Amukamara to go No. 11 overall to Houston. If he's available at 12, it would be hard for the Vikings to pass on him, given their questions at cornerback.
2 Da'Quan Bowers, defensive end, Clemson
At one point, Bowers was considered a top-five pick, but questions about long-term implications of a right knee injury have clouded the draft picture and could cause him to slide. Bowers had arthroscopic surgery in January, but reports surfaced suggesting he possibly could need microfracture surgery. Bowers visited Winter Park, so the Vikings had their medical staff carefully examine his knee.
3 Anthony Castonzo, offensive tackle, Boston College
This might not be the Vikings' most pressing need right now, but they need to find an eventual replacement for Bryant McKinnie, who turns 32 in September. Castonzo is considered the second-best tackle prospect behind USC's Tyron Smith. The Vikings still have high hopes for right tackle Phil Loadholt after a rocky second season, but the team might want to find someone who will push McKinnie and Loadholt.
4 Cameron Jordan, defensive end, Cal
The son of former Vikings tight end Steve Jordan has been a popular pick for the Vikings at No. 12 overall in mock drafts. He's earned a lot of pre-draft praise because of his versatility and ability to play different positions in multiple schemes. The Vikings might look to find a replacement for Ray Edwards, who could leave in free agency.
5 Julio Jones, wide receiver, Alabama
It's probably a stretch to think Jones will fall to No. 12, but you never know. Jones is rated the No. 2 wide receiver in the draft behind Georgia's A.J. Green. The Vikings face a dilemma with Sidney Rice because it's unclear what free agent status (restricted or unrestricted) he will be in a new CBA. Regardless, Jones would be an attractive option if available at 12.
