MCCARDELL FINALLY SCORES FOR REDSKINS

It took a while, but Keenan McCardell finally scored a touchdown for the Washington Redskins. A 12th-round draft pick of the team in 1991, McCardell didn't play that season and then spent the next 15 years with Cleveland, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay and San Diego. But Sunday in the Redskins' 33-25 loss to Philadelphia, the 64th touchdown of McCardell's NFL career became his first with Washington. McCardell has 869 career receptions for 11,219 yards. He has eight for 102 yards in five games with Washington this season.

SPEAKING OF THE WASHINGTON WIDEOUTS

One reason McCardell was signed at age 37 is Washington has struggled at receiver this season. In fact, Washington's receivers had gone all season without catching a touchdown pass until getting three on Sunday.

HO-HUM, ANOTHER MILESTONE

Brett Favre blew past 60,000 yards passing in Sunday's 34-0 victory over the Vikings at Lambeau Field. With 351 yards Sunday, he has 60,257. Dan Marino, at 61,361 yards, is the only other player with at least 60,000. Favre needs 1,105 yards to move past Marino. That should happen sometime before the end of the season.

MORE FAVRE LEFTOVERS

Favre told reporters after Sunday's game that, "This is the most relaxed and carefree team I've ever been around." That's a good thing, he said. But it still makes him nervous since the 8-1 Packers are, after all, the youngest team in the league. "I like to laugh and joke around before the game," Favre said. "But I get nervous when I see other guys doing that. Especially young guys."

SQUEAKER AT MIAMI FOLLOWED BY ... OH, BOY

The Buffalo Bills needed a 34-yard field goal by Rian Lindell to beat the league's only winless team, the Miami Dolphins (0-9), 13-10 on Sunday. And they probably would have lost had an 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Miami's Ted Ginn Jr. not been nullified by a penalty in the fourth quarter. Now the Bills, who have won five of their past six games, return home to face the league's only unbeaten team, the New England Patriots (9-0).

POOR MIAMI

The quote of the week comes from Dolphins defensive lineman Vonnie Holliday. "Who's the guy from Charlie Brown who has the gray cloud following him around?" Holliday asked reporters. "Pigpen? We're like Pigpen." Actually, Vonnie, you're like Charlie Brown. But we get your drift.
