GREEN BAY, Wis. Brett Favre joined Dan Marino as the only quarterbacks to throw for 60,000 yards in a career during the second quarter of Green Bay's game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Favre, who needed 94 yards coming into the game, found running back Vernand Morency for a short pass to the right side for 3 yards for exactly 60,000. Two plays later, he hit favorite target Donald Driver for a 19-yard gain.
Favre came in trailing Marino's all-time mark of 61,361 by 1,456 yards, which he should reach this season.
Favre, who has started 245 straight games, is having one of his statistically best years. The Packers came into Sunday's game an NFC best 7-1 and have won 11 of their last 12 games, including a six-game road winning streak.
Favre, in his 17th season, is on pace to shatter his best season for yards passing set in 1995, when he threw for 4,415 yards with 38 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
Green Bay went 11-5 that year, losing in the NFC championship game to Dallas. The Packers won the Super Bowl the following year, the only title in the three-time MVP's career.
