GAME BALLS
Donovan McNabb, Eagles: The latest quarterback to pick on the Vikings defense hit 23 of 36 passes for 333 yards and a touchdown.
Trent Cole, Eagles: End/linebacker hybrid had a team-high eight tackles, including two sacks and a crucial 6-yard tackle for loss on Adrian Peterson.
PLAY OF THE GAME
Fourth quarter, 4:14 remaining
Vikings second-and-16 at their own 42
The situation: The Eagles led 23-16.
The play: Quarterback Brooks Bollinger was sacked by Jevon Kearse for a 5-yard loss.
The result: Third-and-21 is impossible for the Vikings. Bollinger scrambled 5 yards, then the Vikings punted and never really got another chance.
JACKSON'S ACTIONS QB CALLS
With Tarvaris Jackson out, we take a look at backups Kelly Holcomb and Brooks Bollinger.
Play: No turnovers, no mobility, no imagination against team stacked to stop the run. Grade: Wynn
Leadership: Bollinger came off the bench and looked pretty sharp. Give him credit. Grade: Wade
Stats: A combined 14-for-26 for 182 yards; Holcomb threw a TD pass to Visanthe Shiancoe on the opening drive. Grade: Wade
Overall: The Vikings need a big, backbreaking play at some point from their quarterback. They're not getting it. Grade: Wynn
TOUCHDOWN DANCES
Offense: 10; defense: 4
The defense didn't come close to forcing a turnover; that gave it no chance to score.
TWO-BACK TRACKER
Taylor's slight groin injury made Peterson the starter. His one long run was nullfied by a penalty. Oddly, the Vikings didn't pass to him, though ... just thought we'd point that out.
NEXT WEEK
vs. San Diego, noon Sunday; Metrodome, Ch. 4
About the Chargers: Philip Rivers threw a pair of TD passes to TE Antonio Gates on Sunday, and CB Antonio Cromartie had TDs on a fumble recovery and an interception as San Diego -- forced to practice in Arizona all week because of SoCal wildfires --beat Houston 35-10.
Dangerous player He's one of the NFL's best runners and pass-catchers -- and that's why running back LaDainian Tomlinson was last year's MVP.
