NFC: Life, with a little extra sugar
With a 19.1-yard average per catch, three touchdowns, 17 first downs in 19 grabs, a 4-0 start and, oh yeah, no Bill Parcells, Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens is the happiest high-maintenance receiver this side of Randy Moss.
A week before his Oct. 14 Sunday night showdown with Moss in Dallas, T.O. gets to play a Monday Nighter at 1-3 Buffalo. Ah yes, life is good.
It's amazing just how far the T.O. soap opera has changed since Sept. 26, 2006, the day of his infamous accidental overdose. "It makes me appreciate life," Owens said. "When you get lemons, you make lemonade. I am trying to make lemonade with a little extra sugar."
AFC: Manning in Favre's rear-view mirror
With 283 career touchdown passes just four games into his 10th NFL season, it's a pretty safe bet that Colts quarterback Peyton Manning eventually will own the record that now belongs to Packers 17-year veteran Brett Favre.
With 422 touchdown passes in 17 seasons, Favre is 139 ahead of Manning, and the ninth passer to hold the record since 1930. The first eight -- Benny Friedman, Arnie Herber, Sammy Baugh, Bobby Layne, Y.A. Tittle, Johnny Unitas, Fran Tarkenton and Dan Marino -- are in the Hall of Fame. Tarkenton held the record the longest, 20 years, from 1975-1995.
