GAME BALLS
Brett Favre, Packers: Let's see ... 32-for-45 for 344 yards, two TDs, no interceptions, a 108.0 QB rating and only one sack ... this kid has a future in the league.
Jon Ryan, Packers: Punter had a highlight-reel run on a fake and also a key 58-yard kick on his way to a 49-yard average.
PLAY OF THE GAME
Fourth quarter, 1:11 remaining
Second-and-10 for the Vikings at the Packers 34
The situation: The Vikings trailed 23-16 but had a final chance after recovering a Packers fumble.
The play: Kelly Holcomb's pass bounced off WR Bobby Wade and Atari Bigby intercepted for Green Bay as the Vikings howled for an interference penalty on Charles Woodson.
JACKSON'S HOLCOMB'S ACTIONS
Tarvaris Jackson sat out with an injury, so we'll tweak our weekly feature with Kelly Holcomb:
Play: A critical early overthrow and mobility issues have fans eager to see Jackson again. Grade: Wynn
Leadership: Can you pick up a guy after training camp and expect him to be a leader? No. Grade: Wynn
Stats: Hit 21 of 39 for 258 yards and a late TD pass. Grade: Wade
Overall: The most popular player on an NFL team, tradition says, is the backup quarterback. Now that Holcomb has led the Vikings to only two TDs in two games, he's not that popular. Grade: Wade
TOUCHDOWN DANCES
Offense: 4; Defense: 3
The battle rages. A late TD Sunday enabled the offense to take a lead in the season series.
TWO-BACK TRACKER
Peterson had a 55-yard run and Taylor had a 37-yard run as they combined for 152 rushing yards. Moving the ball wasn't a major issue, but putting it in the end zone was.
NEXT WEEK: Off
WEEK 6: Vikings at Chicago, noon Oct. 14, Soldier Field
About the Bears: Chicago's high hopes have been dashed by a 1-3 start and a series of devastating injuries. They lost 37-27 in Detroit on Sunday, and play at unbeaten Green Bay on Sunday. Brian Griese replaced Rex Grossman at QB but wasn't much of an improvement.
Dangerous player: Devin Hester had a 97-yard kickoff return for a TD on Sunday, his seventh return TD in the past two seasons.
