Ravens coach Brian Billick accused the New York Jets of using an "illegal" ploy to draw Baltimore offside during the Ravens' 20-13 victory Sunday.
Billick said Monday that the Jets defense shouted out signals to intentionally throw off the Baltimore offense. Billick claimed the tactic led to the three illegal-procedure penalties against the Ravens.
"They did an outstanding job. I credit the New York Jets. Their defensive line and linebackers did a very, very effective job of illegally simulating the snap count," Billick said. "They did it the whole game long. It needs to be caught."
Tackle Adam Terry bolted offside in the first and third quarters. Tight end Quinn Sypniewski jumped in the first quarter.
Belichick agrees to NFL request for materials in spying probe
The NFL might soon find out if the New England Patriots video spying went beyond one game, and the team itself might provide the evidence.
Coach Bill Belichick said Monday he will comply with the NFL's request to provide any notes or tapes made from video recordings similar to those that drew a stiff penalty against him and the team.
Kitna has 'miracle' return
Detroit quarterback Jon Kitna said he had no symptoms Monday after coming back from a mild concussion and leading the Lions to a 20-17 overtime victory over the Vikings on Sunday.
"It was a miracle," Kitna said. "I should not have played in the rest of the game. Yet, my head cleared up, and it went to a point where there was nothing. So it's almost as if it didn't happen."
Kitna left the game in the second quarter. He said his symptoms cleared completely by halftime, and he returned in the fourth quarter.
Etc.
One day after Matt Prater missed two field goals in the Falcons' 13-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Falcons cut him and signed Morten Andersen, 47. Andersen, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and the NFL's career scoring leader with 2,445 points, was 20-for-23 in field-goal attempts in 14 games with the Falcons last season.
Kevin Everett is showing some movement in both hands and greater strength in his leg muscles, further positive signs for the Buffalo Bills tight end following a life-threatening spinal-cord injury. "Kevin Everett remains medically stable in the intensive care unit and continues to make daily improvement in his neurological status," Bills doctor John Marzo said in a statement released by the team.
Pro Bowl receiver Andre Johnson could miss this week's game against Indianapolis after spraining his left knee against Carolina. He will not require surgery.
