Jon Kitna, Lions: After leaving because of a concussion, he returned to lead the Lions to victory. Threw for 245 yards in basically two quarters of action.

Ray Edwards, Vikings: Had 1½ sacks, knocked Kitna out of the game for two quarters, and scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery.

Three minutes into overtime.

Third-and-8 for the Vikings at the 50-yard line

The situation: The score was tied 17-17.

The play: Backup quarterback Brooks Bollinger, who seven plays earlier replaced injured Tarvaris Jackson, fumbled the snap from center and Shaun Rogers recovered for Detroit.

The result: The Lions quickly drove for the winning field goal.

Play: No way to look past four bad interceptions and a 26.4 quarterback ranking. The Vikings only got inside the red zone twice. Grade: Wynn

Leadership: The guy on the other team showed how a quarterback shows some panache. Grade: Wynn

Stats: Completed 17 of 33 passes for only 166 yards. Have we mentioned the four interceptions? Grade: Wynn

Overall: The Vikings believe if Jackson keeps mistakes to a minimum, they will be OK. Hey, it's back to square one. Grade: Wynn

2 Offense

3 Defense

Ray Edwards' fumble return means the defense is still outscoring the offense this year.

With Chester Taylor (hip) sidelined, Adrian Peterson got most of the work. Backup Mewelde Moore was very impressive, with six carries for 50 yards and four catches for 36 more.

About the Chiefs

Kansas City made the playoffs last season in its first year under Herm Edwards but has opened with losses to Houston (20-3) and Chicago (20-10). All-Pro RB Larry Johnson has been stifled, and Brodie Croyle, who replaced Damon Huard on Sunday, might get his first NFL start at QB against the Vikings.

Dangerous player

Johnson rushed for 1,789 yards and scored 19 TDs last season.
