Peterson, two other rookies remain unsigned

The Vikings were working intently Tuesday to sign the remaining members of their draft class, but they had confirmed no deals on the eve of reporting day for training camp.
Players technically are due at Minnesota State Mankato for meetings early Thursday morning. But the team expects most players, at least those with signed contracts, to arrive this evening. The first practice is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday.
Of the three unsigned rookies, second-round receiver Sidney Rice and third-round cornerback Marcus McCauley seemed unlikely to hold out. It was unclear Tuesday, however, whether first-round running back Adrian Peterson would be signed in time to participate in Friday's practice.
Team officials intensified talks with Rice and McCauley this week and seemed to be nearing an agreement with both players.
