Fulfilling a goal set when he purchased the team two years ago, Vikings owner Zygi Wilf has formed a Board of Advisors and has scheduled its first meeting for Thursday.
The board, made up of 25 local business leaders, will advise Wilf mostly on business and community relations. Its meeting this week coincides with a full ownership retreat that will take place Wednesday.
"[Wilf] has talked for a while about establishing this group," said Lester Bagley, Vikings vice president of public affairs and stadium development. "It will provide some input and unique perspective in Minnesota, and also insight into some of the things we are doing as an organization."
Bagley would not confirm the names of board members but described them as "CEOs from Fortune 500 companies, executives from key charitable and civic groups and a broad cross-section of business and community leaders."
The board likely will meet one or two times per year.

Vikings center Matt Birk's HIKE Foundation (Hope, Inspiration, Knowledge, and Education) played host to its fifth annual celebrity golf classic Monday at Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove. Birk, left guard Steve Hutchinson, placekicker Ryan Longwell and former Vikings long snapper Mike Morris were among the participants.
"If you have a chance to help someone, why wouldn't you?" Birk said. "Especially if it consists of you playing golf."
The foundation, which provides assistance to at-risk Twin Cities school children, recently embarked on a 12-year project to donate $500,000 through its HIKE Scholars program.
Etc.
The Vikings signed linebacker John Kerr, a rookie free agent from Ohio State.
