Vikings: Former Colt reserve to visit

The majority of the NFL's free-agent market has been picked over, but the Vikings aren't done exploring their options.

The majority of the NFL's free-agent market has been picked over, but the Vikings aren't done exploring their options.

Looking to add depth at receiver, the team has arranged a visit Tuesday with veteran Aaron Moorehead. The Indianapolis Star reports at least two other teams have expressed interest in Moorehead, who was signed as a free agent by the Colts out of Illinois in 2003.

Moorehead's agent, Buddy Baker, did not return calls Friday.

In four years with Indianapolis, Moorehead had 23 receptions for 265 yards and a touchdown in 28 regular-season games. He played in a career-high 12 games in 2006 and caught eight passes for 82 yards and a score. Moorehead, who is 6-3, 200 pounds, had five receptions for 41 yards in the postseason as the Colts won the Super Bowl.

Moorehead's father, Emery, played in the NFL for 12 seasons with the New York Giants, Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears. Aaron is the cousin of former NBA player Brad Daugherty.

The Vikings have eight receivers on their roster, including Bobby Wade, Troy Williamson, Billy McMullen, Randy Hymes, Jason Carter, Maurice Mann, Martin Nance and Justin Surrency. Wade was signed as a free agent this month from Tennessee. Only Wade, McMullen and Hymes have more than three years experience and none of the team's receivers are considered clear-cut No. 1 guys.

The Vikings appear to have little interest in bringing back free-agent receiver Travis Taylor, who led the team with 57 receptions last season for 651 yards and three touchdowns.

Etc.

• Tickets for the Vikings' April 28 draft party at Winter Park will go on sale Monday. General admission tickets are $20; the team also has introduced what it is calling The Red Zone, a special section of reserved seating closest to the stage. Tickets for that area are $70 and will include a private autograph session with 2006 first-round pick Chad Greenway, among other things. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at Vikings Locker Room stores or by calling the team's ticket office at 612-338-4537.

• The Vikings preseason schedule is expected to be released Monday.
