ORLANDO, FLA. - Oakland receiver Randy Moss will return to the scene of some of his greatest triumphs and, arguably, embarrassments in the Vikings preseason opener on Aug. 14, the NFL announced today.
The Vikings-Oakland contest also will mark the debut of new Vikings coach Brad Childress and will be the first broadcast on ESPN's new Monday Night Football format. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Vikings will take a break from training camp in Mankato to play the game, then return to the campus of Minnesota State University for more workouts.
Opponents for the remainder of the Vikings' preseason games also were announced today, with game dates to be determined later.
In addition to Oakland, the Vikings also will play a home preseason game against Baltimore. They will play preseason games on the road at Pittsburgh and Dallas.
