The Vikings signed free agent offensive lineman Jason Whittle to a one-year contract today, according to his agent, Joe Linta. Linta refused to provide any financial details.
Whittle, who was released by the New York Giants in a salary-cap move last week, has spent seven of his eight NFL seasons with the Giants. He can play both guard and center and is expected to compete for a starting spot at guard. I think its a good fit, Linta said.
Whittle appeared in 14 games last season but did not have any starts for the Giants; he started all 16 games for the Giants the previous year.
