Green Bay's Robinson reinstated by the NFL

Last update: October 17, 2007 - 9:43 PM

Koren Robinson's biggest supporter never forgot about him even as the Packers jumped out to the NFC's best record.

Now Robinson says he won't let Brett Favre, or the rest of his teammates, down.

"I'm glad I get an opportunity to redeem myself," Robinson said Wednesday night in a conference call from Houston, while traveling to see his family before heading to Green Bay.

Robinson has a final chance under the NFL's substance abuse policy after the league reinstated the wide receiver from his one-year suspension on Wednesday.

If Robinson violates the policy again, he faces a lifetime ban.

"I know this is my last chance," he said. "If I do anything to jeopardize that, I didn't deserve it in the first place."

Holmes practices

Running back Priest Holmes, written off as finished many times since he last played with the Kansas City Chiefs almost two years ago, returned to the practice field Wednesday.

The Chiefs have 21 days to make a decision on Holmes. They can activate him, release him or return him to the non-football injury list, which in effect would end his season.

Judging from coach Herm Edwards' comments, it's no longer a matter of whether the Chiefs will activate Holmes, but when. It could happen in time for Sunday's game at Oakland.

Holmes walked away from the Chiefs in October 2005 after taking a hard hit in a game in San Diego. The tackle left him with numbness and tingling in his extremities and exposed a spinal condition that would keep him away from football until this summer.

Morris out at least a month

When New England running back Laurence Maroney went down with a groin injury that has forced him to miss the past three games, the Patriots ground game did not suffer because Sammy Morris stepped up. Now it's time for someone to step in for Morris.

Morris is expected to miss at least a month because of a chest injury he sustained Sunday in Dallas.

Etc.

Byron Leftwich has replaced Joey Harrington as Atlanta's starting quarterback.

• Buffalo rookie quarterback Trent Edwards will make his third straight start Sunday.

• Detroit running back Kevin Jones will get his first start of the season Sunday.

• The Lions signed former Vikings cornerback Dovonte Edwards and released linebacker Donte Curry.
