NFC view: INTs 'worth the risk,' Favre says
Packers quarterback Brett Favre says it only stands to reason that if he's first in NFL career completions (5,073) and second in attempts (8,303) he's going to rank at or near the top when it comes to touchdown passes and interceptions.
He needs four TD passes to surpass Dan Marino's record of 420 and is hoping to avoid three interceptions to overtake George Blanda (277).
"I think it's been a great career up to this point," Favre said. "It's been everything I thought it could be, and then some, and then some. And there have been some bad plays, some bonehead plays, whatever you want to call it. But a lot of those good ones would not be there if it wasn't for taking a chance. For me, it has been well worth the risk."
AFC view: Gonzalez on verge of tight end scoring record
Tony Gonzalez of the Chiefs needs two TDs to surpass Shannon Sharpe's record for most touchdowns by a tight end (62). He could break the mark Sunday against the Vikings.
"[The record] means a lot," Gonzalez said. "I certainly don't think it defines what I have been able to accomplish out on the field. Records are records, but I do take satisfaction in it, especially considering the fact that guys like Shannon Sharpe, who has the record, Kellen Winslow, Ozzie Newsome, Mike Ditka, John Mackey, all these great tight ends that have played the position before."
