ABOUT THE VIKINGS

Most starters are expected to play the entire first half, but quarterbacks will be replaced every quarter. QB Tarvaris Jackson will start again, but QB Brooks Bollinger will get some time with the rest of the first-teamers in the second quarter. ... The Vikings spent much of the week working on red zone offense, and it will be interesting to see what they do when they get inside the 20-yard line. ... Coach Brad Childress also is looking for better placement from his punters, Chris Kluwe and Alex Reyes. ... The Vikings have played the Jets five times in the preseason but have only won once.

ABOUT THE JETS

The Jets finally signed CB Darrelle Revis, their first-round draft choice, on Wednesday but he is not expected to play. Neither will RB Thomas Jones, who has a strained calf. ... Jets followers are all atwitter over backup QB Kellen Clemens, but there is no doubt that Chad Pennington remains the starter. ... Another preseason-long soap opera has been the unhappiness of OL Pete Kendall, who was demoted to second team and now is a backup center. Kendall has been vocal about his displeasure with the move and with the team's unwillingness to do a contract extension. Between Jones' injury, the drama of Kendall and the absence of Revis, it's been a newsy but not overly positive summer for the Jets.
